The month of May has been intense for the work of Dones Mentores in the Specialized Intervention Services of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Government).
On the one hand, our team and professionals from the Department of Equality and Feminism of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Government) traveled to Lleida on May 7th to begin the project rollout at the SIE located in the city.
We inaugurated Phase I with a session to learn about the team, its responsibilities and functions, and the regional situation in which its SIE is implemented. Dones Mentores dedicated a significant portion of the time to a training session where the model was presented and the implementation phases of horizontal mentoring among women were discussed. This workspace allowed for the sharing of intervention criteria, the adaptation of the methodology, and the initiation of the construction of the first driving force of women mentors in Lleida.
Furthermore, we are continuing the project rollout efforts at the SIE (the regional administration’s women’s services) in Badalona and Vilanova i la Geltrú, respectively. We are beginning Phase II in the services where we already have teams of professionals familiarized and trained with us, and the first groups of mentors trained and trained in gender-based mentoring. This month, we held working meetings with both SIE to discuss and identify the women we serve who will participate in the first mentoring experiences.
These actions are part of the rollout of Dones Mentores project at the SIE in Catalonia, in close collaboration with the services’ professional teams and with the commitment to creating the best mentoring support spaces for women who have suffered gender-based violence, from a feminist, intersectional perspective rooted in the region.
