What?
San Fernando de Henares (pop. 40.000) was the first City Council in the Madrid region that opted for mentoring with a gender perspective through Dones Mentores. In December 2020 we began the collaboration to communicate about Dones Mentores and to lay the foundations for the construction of a network of women mentors in this municipality.
Why?
The San Fernando de Henares City Council wanted to incorporate mentoring with a gender perspective in its social action, as a form of assistance to women and community participation. To this end, the project focused on complementing and accompanying the actions of the municipal system of intervention and care for women, through a non-vertical approach, monitoring in the social restitution phase, and personalizing care for each woman. The project, started in 2020, was implemented over a period of three years and concluded in July 2023.
