Implementation of gender-sensitive mentoring in the Specialized Intervention Services (SIE)
SIE of Badalona, Vilanova i la Geltrú and Lleida
What?
In 2025, the implementation of the gender-sensitive social mentoring model of Dones Mentores will be rolled out in the SIE of Lleida, Badalona and Vilanova i la Geltrú. This project is intended to strengthen the specialized care network of the Generalitat for women survivors of gender-based violence, reinforcing support resources, facilitating recovery and promoting the social restitution of users. The project is being developed in two phases, adapting to the reality and needs of each territory.
Lleida: diagnosis, adaptation and implementation of the Dones Mentores model
We are starting the first phase in the SIE of Lleida. Work sessions are carried out with the management and intensive training for the entire team, focused on the entire process of implementing mentoring in the SIE, the Dones Mentores methodology, the role of the mentors and the necessary support for the SIE professional team to guarantee good referrals. At the same time, a driving group of women from the territory is selected and trained, which becomes the basis for the continuity of the project in the second phase.
Badalona and Vilanova i la Geltrú: consolidation and monitoring
The purpose of the intervention is to consolidate and expand the implementation of the mentoring model in the SIE of Badalona and Vilanova, where Dones Mentores had already carried out a first phase of introduction.
In this phase, advanced training is reinforced for the professional teams, the referral and selection of new mentees and also new mentors is worked on, and the process of matching and monitoring of mentoring relationships is accompanied throughout the year. Monitoring is continuous and results and recommendations are collected for each SIE.
Why?
The incorporation of gender-sensitive mentoring in SIEs responds to the need to offer more comprehensive and community-based support to women survivors of gender-based violence in Catalonia. This methodology complements professional care, facilitates the creation of peer support networks and promotes social restitution and empowerment.
The experience accumulated by Dones Mentores in other territories and its presence as a reference entity in the White Paper on the prevention of gender-based violence endorse the solidity and impact of the model.
The specific objectives are: to strengthen the support network for women treated in SIEs; to facilitate emotional and social recovery through peer support; to promote the participation of leading women in the territory as agents of change; to improve coordination between professional and community services.
